Cul-de-sacs represent a specific urban configuration where infrastructural endpoints coincide with social and functional limitations. The project “Section of the Cul-de-Sac in Bairro Além das Vinhas” does not view these places as deficits, but as spaces of potential. The goal is to develop a spatial design framework to open selected cul-de-sacs to mainly pedestrian traffic — while respecting existing property rights and built structures.
